The Algarve has so many incredible beaches that it can be hard to know where to start. Golden stretches, hidden coves, dramatic cliffs - they're all here, and they're all worth visiting. But with so many options, it's easy to end up at the same spot everyone else goes to.
That's why we put together this guide: to help you find the most scenic beaches in the Algarve, the ones that actually feel special.
Here are some of the most stunning beaches in the Algarve, each with its own character.
Praia dos Três Irmãos
Set just outside Alvor, this beach is known for its golden sand, large rock formations, and hidden caves that appear at low tide. It's a great mix of easy access and natural beauty, with calm water near shore and quieter corners if you walk a little further along the sand.

Praia de Vale de Centeanes
A smaller beach near Carvoeiro with a more intimate feel, framed by tall limestone cliffs. It's also a starting point for the Seven Hanging Valleys walk, making it a great stop for a swim after hiking or a relaxed afternoon by the sea.

Praia Nova
Tucked away near Senhora da Rocha, Praia Nova feels peaceful and slightly hidden. Reached by steep stairs, it's surrounded by cliffs and has a calm, laid-back atmosphere that's ideal if you're looking to escape the busier beaches nearby.

Praia da Falésia
Stretching for several kilometres between Vilamoura and Albufeira, Falésia is defined by its dramatic red and white cliffs that tower above the entire stretch of sand. Creating a striking, layered, and unique coast. Even on busier days, you can find your own corner along this expansive beach.

Praia da Marinha
Often listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and for good reason. Famous rock arches, clear turquoise water, and postcard-perfect views make this beach unforgettable. It does get really crowded in summer, so arrive early or late in the day to enjoy it at its best.

Praia da Bordeira
Located on the west coast, this beach feels raw and expansive. Backed by dunes and crossed by a river, it's ideal for long walks, fresh air, and watching surfers tackle the Atlantic waves. It's less polished, but incredibly powerful and beautiful.

Praia de Odeceixe
One of the Algarve's most unique beaches, where the river meets the sea. On one side, gentle river waters perfect for families; on the other, the Atlantic waves. Set on the west coast, between the Algarve and Alentejo, it has a wilder, more untouched feel.
Pick one that calls to you, or better yet, explore them all and see why locals keep these places close to their hearts.
