From hidden fishing villages to dramatic cliffs and golden beaches, the Algarve offers an incredible mix of landscapes, towns, and experiences. If you want to see the best of it without overplanning every detail, this 7-day itinerary covers the key spots worth visiting.

Day 1 – Faro

Start in Faro with a walk through the Old Town, passing historic streets, archways, and quiet squares. Head out on a Ria Formosa boat trip for a different perspective of the coastline, then finish the day with rooftop drinks overlooking the marina.

Day 2 – Tavira

Explore Tavira’s charming streets, lined with tiled buildings and small cafés, and cross its iconic bridge before heading to Praia do Barril for a relaxed beach walk. End the day in Cacela Velha, one of the Algarve’s most scenic and peaceful sunset spots.

Day 3 – Olhão

Begin your day at the local market, known for its fresh seafood and local produce, then take a boat to nearby islands like Armona or Culatra. Expect wide sandy beaches, clear water, and a more local, authentic atmosphere away from the bigger resort towns.

Day 4 – Carvoeiro

Follow part of the Seven Hanging Valleys trail for some of the Algarve’s best coastal views, with cliffs, hidden coves, and open sea views along the way. Stop by Algar Seco to explore its natural rock formations, caves, and sea-carved arches, then head into Carvoeiro Old Town for dinner or drinks.

Day 5 – Silves, Vineyard & Ferragudo

Head inland to Silves to explore its castle, cobbled streets, and historic centre with views over the surrounding countryside. Continue to a nearby vineyard, Arvad or Morgado do Quintão, for a relaxed wine tasting experience. End the day in Ferragudo, a charming fisherman's village perfect for a laid-back dinner by the water.

Day 6 – Lagos

Spend the day in Lagos exploring its lively streets, local shops, and café-lined squares. Wander through the Old Town before heading to Ponta da Piedade for some of the Algarve’s most iconic cliff views. Boat or kayak tours here are a great way to see the caves and rock formations up close.

Day 7 – Sagres

Wrap up your trip in Sagres, known for its wild coastline and more rugged, untouched feel. Explore hidden beaches, take in the open ocean views, and finish at Cabo de São Vicente for a dramatic sunset at the edge of Europe.

This itinerary is a perfect mix of iconic sights & local spots, giving you a complete way to experience the Algarve at its best while discovering both the highlights and hidden corners along the way.
